Thank you for stopping by our site….. On this page you will find out about our wonderful breed, our first dogs and how we got started and our current dogs today. So please continue on, and we hope you enjoy learning a little more about us and our fur kids.

Royal Hill is a small hobby kennel located in South Jordan, Utah. Mike and I moved from Olathe, Kansas to Utah in 2005. Utah we have found it to be beautiful with a lot’s of mountains.

IIn 1987 Mike and I got our first blue merle sheltie.  Sammy joined our family at 10 weeks and in 1989 became Ch. Shadow Hill's Royal Ribbon.  Sammy helped me learn about shelties, showing in conformation and how to be trained by a sheltie!  I was really excited and had lot to learn, I went to shows, including the national,  talked with breeders and handlers, and became involved with my local clubs.  I recommend the book Sheltie Talk to anyone interested in becoming involved in our breed.  Ch. Sammy gets credit for getting me hooked on breeding and showing, it is my favorite hobby.

Our puppies are born in the bedroom and raised in the home by Mike and myself.  Our children have grown up and moved on to jobs, school and new families while we remain here in Utah to enjoy the dogs and the beautiful view of the mountains.  We have a lovely ranch home with a very large, fenced back yard with plenty of room to run and play under the trees.  Our dogs are raised like our children and we take them for walks and socialize them.  The neighborhood kids come to play so they get lots of kid attention, love and spoiling.

We sell our puppies and occasional adults to pet, conformation, or performance homes.  Several dogs we have placed have gone on to become wonderful therapy dogs as well.  All of our dogs are tested for known genetic problems in the breed.

I have always loved of animals and also enjoy working with Delta Society (http://www.deltasociety.org/ ) and Intermountain Therapy Animals (http://www.therapyanimalsorg )at the nursing home, children group home, etc. I also volunteer to help children and adult to learn new skills in sign language. The rest of my time is usually spent with my family, friends, volunteering, and my job and of course with our dogs. My husband, Mike enjoys flying and has flown various types of aircraft from small airplanes to military fighters. He tries to play golf when he has the time. He loves to watch old movies especially the old western movies. He is a retired marine who served 29 years in the corps. He has been a soccer coach for about nine years.
