Thank
you for stopping by our site...
On this page you will find out
about our start in this
wonderful breed, our first dogs,
and how they have helped
influence our current dogs
today! So please
continue on, and we hope you
enjoy learning a little more
about us, and our fur kids!!
After
Mike, and I were married we
settled in Sarasota, Florida.
I began to learn about Shelties,
and became very involved in the
local Sheltie Clubs. After
a couple of years spent learning
about this wonderful breed, we
decided to purchase a dog in
order to get involved in the
conformation aspect of Shelties.
By this time, we had moved
again, to Roanoke Virginia, and
were able to purchase our very
first show dog,
"Sammy". We were
very lucky in that we approached
the renowned Shadow Hills
Kennel for our first show
dog. He was registered as Shadow
Hill's Royal Ribbons, and
was campaigned on our behalves
by his breeder Jane Hammett.
Sammy blossomed into a beautiful
show dog with a wonderful
outgoing temperament, and
achieved his American
Championship at under 2 years of
age with three majors.
Sammy gets the credit for making
Sheltie breeding and showing my
favorite hobby!

Through
Sammy, I was able to meet many other dog
breeders, and continued my involvement in a
number of Sheltie clubs; We are currently
members of the Utah Shetland Sheepdog Club, and
the American Shetland
Sheepdog Association (ASSA).
However, being busy parents, we
were unable to promote Sammy the
way we felt he should be
promoted. After searching for a
handler, we met Rick Thompson of
Chaminade Shetland Sheepdogs.
Rick and Sammy formed an instant
and life-long bond, and Rick for
many years was Sammy's exclusive
handler. They were such an
outstanding team that they were
even the subject of articles in
Sheltie Pacesetter! Prior
to his sudden death in 1996,
Sammy had earned the dual title
of "Am/Can.Ch.
Shadow Hill's Royal
Ribbons".

In
1994 we purchased a puppy from Grandhill
Kennels in Canada - Grandhill
Ice Crystals. Krystal
was not a show dog - she was too
laid back to make it in the
competition ring. However,
despite her shortcomings, she
was a wonderful brood bitch and
brought to our kennel a number
of qualities which helped us to
establish ourselves. In
1995, Krystal was bred to
Am/Can/Int Ch. Virgo Charlie
Chaplin, and produced a litter
of 4 puppies. We kept one
bitch whom we named Tiffany who
was a bi-blue. She went out
with Julie Desy in early 1996
and by ten months of age had
earned her American Championship
with 3 majors!! At two
years of age Tiffany
completed her Canadian
Championship and is now proudly
called Am/Can Ch. Royal Hill
Sterling Silver.

Losing
Sammy in 1996 was perhaps the
hardest moment in our history
with Shelties, and it took me a
long time to get re-enthused
about the breed.
Fortunately, I had a litter of
young hopefuls out of Krystal's
second pregnancy, bred to Am/Can
Ch. Country Lane The Energizer
ROMC. We grew out a
tricolor girl whom we registered
as Royal Hill Laura Ashley.
Ashley was First in the 9-12
month Black class at the 1997
ASSA National, and was also
Puppy Of The Year that year.
Ashley is now owned with her
favorite handler Meredith Maust. In
1999 Ashley was bred to A/C Ch.
Toven's Wintertide and produced
a litter of 7 puppies. At the
2000 ASSA National Ashley was
4th place in Open Black class
and finished her championship
later that year
